The Facts

Major Studies, White Papers, and other Published Works about Registered Sex Offenders

SOhopeful International's position on Megan's Law and similarly harmful legislation is not based on emotion, but rather actual data. We have compiled a weighty list of major studies, reports and whitepapers from highly respected professionals, professional associations and government agencies. More and more professionals are reaching the same conclusion as we have - that listing everyone convicted of any type of sex crime on a registry does NOT make the public safer!

But don't take our word for it - read for yourself. It is truly shocking the difference between what we as the public have been told and the actual reality of the situation.

Be sure to read the many Canadian reports about supervision, recidivism and reoffense, and psychological factors regarding sex offenders. There is a wealth of information put out by the Canadian Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness department available. that independently concludes what the US government and many treatment professionals are now saying - that lifetime supervision and/or tracking is not only not necessary for low-risk offenders, but is actually detrimental to them and their reintegration efforts, as well as a major drain on public resources.

The facts speak for themselves.
