The Communications Department is the mouthpiece of our organization. All correspondence on behalf of SOhopeful International, [printed, digital] goes through this department.

This department also includes our electronic efforts, such as the websites, online marketing efforts such as banners, search engines and webrings, as well as our electronic newsletter. Members in this department help us articulate our positions on issues or legislation to the media, public and government.

Communications produces the following short-term publications for professional/public consumption:

• Brochures
• Flyers
• Press Releases
• Literature for Treatment Professionals
• Literature for Family Members
• Pamphlets
• Press Packs

In addition, this department works closely with the Legal Affairs Department. Once legislation or a legal case has been targeted as an action item and our views articulated, communications sends out the Notice of Speak Up! campaign to our members who are notified to target our communications to the people in the position to either craft the legislation directly, or have some influence in that process.

If you have good writing, communication, design, graphics, publishing or networking skills (even if you don't!) please consider joining this department. Our members and Directors will assist you in writing and distribution of correspondence and literature.
