The Legal Affairs Department is
the powerhouse of our organization and will include licensed paralegals and attorneys.
New, pending and existing pertinent legislation is tracked by this department. Members
in this department help us to research legislation and catalog it for future action.
Once tagged for action, our Advisory Board, Communications and Legal Affairs work
together to formulate sensible, workable solution-oriented proposals to present
to legislators for bills that we either propose, collaborate on, or oppose. These
efforts are world-wide. Legal Affairs also does the following: - Maintains
a database of legislators in each American state and federal government who are
on departments that deal with the penal code/public safety, and respectively for
our member nations,
- Oversees and interacts with our lobbyists in the American
states, federal government and other nations, and
- Produces seminars and
self-study kits on how a bill becomes law, criminal law procedure, legal research
and other topics.
Legal Affairs will develop a network of attorneys
and paralegals willing to provide pro-bono services to members in their area.
In addition, Legal Affairs will arrange to have a group prepaid legal service
that is available to dues-paying members. We anticipate filing a class-action
lawsuit in the next 3 years through this department. If you have paralegal,
research, organizational, and/or data entry skills please consider joining this
department. Our members and Directors will assist you in any way necessary to
complete tasks. Contact Jim
